Get to Know Us A Little Better: Meet the Founders

Kim Ruiz King & Cameron King

When Kim & Cam originally met, they were rivals at a previous insurance agency because Kim had dethroned Cam as the top agent on the team. The two eventually became friends and then started dating in 2023. Later that year Fambuli Insurance Services was born.

Together as a cross-country power couple they have built a national brokerage that helps their clients secure day-to-day risk and prepare for the future using life and health insurance strategies that most people aren't aware are even available.

When they aren't working, they love to spend time outside, exploring new places, & supporting local businesses.

Get to know them a little better and see how they can help your family, business, or both.

How It All Started

Fambuli isn't just the name of an insurance brokerage, it's also a way of life. Kim and Cam were both entrepreneurs before starting Fambuli, so they not only know what it's like to raise a family, but also what it's like to run a business.

One day Kim and Cam were brainstorming about combining forces to create one brokerage that serviced both of their clients. Kim was passionate about helping individuals and family, while Cam was passionate about helping small business owners, and together they wanted to make sure they were there throughout their clients' major life events.

After going through dozens of prospective names for this venture, Cam came up with "Family Business Life." It was bold and entailed everything they were about all in the name, but it was a mouthful. Then while trying to abbreviate the name so they wouldn't end up another three-letter-agency, Kim came up with "Fambuli" (pronounced Fam-BOO-lee). While it was weird, they both liked it and it was catchy.

The next task at hand was designing a logo, so Cam went to work and after several failed attempts, landed with the classic logo you know today. The people in the background represent family, the handshake in the foreground represents business, and the heart in the middle represents life.

How It All Works

Obviously by now, you know our name stands for Family Business Life and that we help families and businesses for life, and that the main products we work with are life insurance, health insurance, and retirement solutions, but you might be wondering how exactly we do that... and the simple answer is that we use insurance to transfer everyday risk from you to an insurance company.

Let's start by explaining what "for life" means. We like to focus on life events as the reason to talk about insurance. A life event is something that happens that changes your responsibilities. Some of the happy life events you experience could be graduating from college, getting married, having kids, changing careers, starting a business, or retiring. Sometimes though, we deal with unhappy life events like divorce, death or illness in the family, job loss, or market volatility.

When life events happen, it's important to review your insurance to make sure you're equipped for what's to come, so whether the life event that brings is a happy or unhappy one, we're here to help guide you through it.

Now let's get into Family and Business. Fambuli is a family business, and our clients are families and businesses (and sometimes family businesses) — make sense?

We treat the families (and individuals) that come to us as if they are our own family. Meaning we take extra time to make sure all the questions get answered and all the concerns get addressed. If we wouldn't recommend it to our parents, grandparents, siblings, cousins, nieces, nephews or our own kids if they were in your situation, we wouldn't recommend it to you.

The insurance we typically put in place for families addresses death, disability, illness, accidents, and protecting income & assets. You can check out a full list of products and strategies for families HERE.

As for businesses, we treat your business like its our business. We've been around the block a few times with figuring out how to set up our own employee benefits, so we definitely know what you're going through when you set up yours. Typically we help businesses set up employee benefits, executive benefits, and ancillary benefits, but we're also know to be able to help you save some big money on your payroll taxes too.

The businesses we're equipped to help range from 1 to infinity, so whether you're a 1099 contractor, have an LLC, or have a corporation, we got your back. Generally we're working with life insurance and health insurance benefits. You can check out a full list of products and strategies for businesses HERE.

How It All Happens

Step 1: Discovery Call

Before we can make any recommendations for insurance, we need to get to know you and your situation first to make sure we can even help you to begin with (sometimes we can't). A discovery call is usually ranges from 15 to 30 minutes — enough time to get to know you, but not enough time to give you a full quote — so we schedule a follow up call from there to go over your options. Essentially, there are three things we need to know: what you want to accomplish, how much you can afford to put towards it, and if you're healthy enough to get approved for coverage.

(think you're not healthy enough? check THIS out before giving up)

Step 2: Research

After the discovery call and between the follow up call, we sit down and research your options. Sometimes it takes only a few minutes, but sometimes it can take hours or even days if we have to call underwriters, run risk assessments, and really dig deep into products to make sure they are the right fit for you.

Step 3: Follow Up Call

Now that we know all the facts, we can talk about all the options. During the follow up call we will talk about what products could help given your situation, discuss quotes, and answer any questions that you have.

Step 4: Application

Usually we submit an application during the follow up call, but sometimes we might have to do that another day. The application process usually takes 10-15 minutes per person. This is where we compile all the facts and submit it to the insurance company for review. Ultimately they make the decision to approve you, not us.

Step 5: Review

If your policy was approved, we'll invite you to a policy review to make sure you know exactly what you have and how to use it. If you're not approved, we'll go over why and see if there are any other options available.

Step 6: Life

Once you're a client of ours, you're a client for life. If anything comes up, we're here to help. We'll also stay in touch to wish you a happy birthday, deliver holiday greetings, and from time to time we'll ask you to review you policies with us just in case life changes.
